Don’t Cut Corners on Music for Your Wedding Ceremony – Toronto Roman Catholic Wedding Singer Crooner

I’ve written on the topic before and I think it is one worth revisiting. Your special day (i.e. your wedding) is a once in a lifetime event and you don’t want to look back and have any regrets. Although many of today’s young people are on a budget and are trying to find the best deals when it comes to their wedding, many will end up overlooking or choosing an inferior vendor for a minuscule amount after ll the expenses are added up.

One of the amazing  things about music at your wedding ceremony is that it can set the tone for the rest of the day. The question is what tone are you setting with the musicians you hire? Are you hiring a group of musical volunteers at your church because it was the cheapest option or are you deciding to go with the OTHER singer because s/he was $50 cheaper than the original, better sounding musician that you originally considered?

If any of the latter situations describes you then you are cheating yourself and your guests out of a memorable experience that will only happen once in your life. And for a $50 savings, you might be making your wedding service memorable for all of the wrong reasons. People must realize that guests pay attention to the music program and nothing can make your wedding a run-of-the-mill event than mediocre or really bad music.

As a musician, I’ve dealt with couples who have really wanted to invest in their music program at their catholic wedding and have been very pleased with the outcome when they hire me as a cantor and my accompanists . I feel blessed as I still have couples contacting me from many years ago saying that they are still receiving complements from their guests on how much they enjoyed the ceremony. However, the biggest complement comes when the guests call and ask me to perform at their wedding service because they enjoyed my singing.

People fail to realize that many weddings are carbon copies of each others. There will be a nice hall or venue, decent food, speeches, first dance and a DJ afterwards for dancing. What people fail to realize is that one of the ways to have their wedding day stand out is to have beautiful music at the ceremony. Some may argue that music may not be that important but just remember that music is one of the few things on a wedding day that can evoke emotional and really touch and move people.

There is a great saying by Maya Angelou which really emphasizes the point I am trying to bring across in this blog. It says that “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did but people will never forget how you made them feel”.  To put things in perspective, music has the ability to move, affect and to bring out emotions in people and this can make your wedding day memorable for them. I dare to say that your music just might be one of the most important decisions that you make on your wedding day. Therefore, choose wisely!
